Basis for compiling the characteristics and volume of harvested wood

Wood is a material made from shrubs and trees, which is used in construction and the production of a wide variety of items. In Art. 29 of the LC RF prescribes the procedure for its preparation.

Wood harvesting refers to entrepreneurial activities associated with cutting down forest plantations, skidding, partial processing, storage and removal from the forest (Clause 1 of Article 29 of the RF LC).

Timber harvesting is carried out on the basis of lease agreements for forest plots (clause 8 of Article 29 of the RF LC), and in some cases, on the basis of a purchase and sale agreement for forest plantations.

On the basis of a contract for the sale and purchase of forest plantations, harvesting can be carried out in the following cases:

  • to meet state or municipal needs (clause 8.2 of Article 29 of the RF LC);
  • for harvesting spruce and (or) other coniferous trees for the New Year holidays (clause 4.1 of article 32 of the RF LC);
  • to provide citizens with their own needs (clause 4 of article 30 of the LC RF);
  • etc.

In accordance with paragraph 4 of Art. 75 LC, the contract for the sale and purchase of forest plantations must indicate the volume to be harvested and the location of the forest plantations where harvesting will take place. In addition to the volume, it is necessary to indicate the characteristics of the wood. If the volume and characteristics are not specified, the contract will be considered invalid.

At the discretion of the parties, information about the characteristics and volume of harvested wood may be indicated in a separate document, which is an integral appendix, or in the contract itself.

Contents of the characteristics and volume of harvested wood

A sample of the characteristics and volume of harvested wood was approved by Order of the Federal Forestry Agency dated July 26, 2011 No. 319 (Appendix No. 2).

In this application you must provide the following information:

  • name of the breed;
  • number of trees;
  • type and volume of wood cut down (in cubic meters).
  • number and area of the cutting area (forest taxation unit);
  • name of the farm (coniferous, hard or soft-deciduous);

The characteristics and volume of harvested wood are drawn up in two copies and signed by the parties to the contract.

Formulas for calculating boards and timber

To calculate the cubic capacity of lumber, you can always use our calculator or tables. But it won’t hurt to be able to do it yourself. Knowing the simplest formulas, you can always perform the necessary calculations, and the lack of access to the Internet will not let you down at the most crucial moment.

How to calculate the volume of one board (m3)

Everything is simple here, you need to multiply the length, width and height of the board or beam . But first, we convert all dimensions into meters.

V board = length * width * height

Let's see how to calculate the cubic capacity using the example of a 25x300x5000 mm edged board

  1. Convert millimeters to meters → to do this, divide the original values by 1000:

dimensions in meters: 0.025 x 0.3 x 5

  1. We multiply all the indicators (LxWxH) and get the volume of one board:

0.025 m * 0.3 m * 5 m = 0.0375 m3

the volume of the board is 0.0375 m3 for convenience, we round the values to hundredths - 0.04 m3

Find out how many pieces of boards are in 1 cube

To do this, the unit must be divided by the volume of one board or timber in m3.

1 m 3 / V one board

In our case, the volume of one board is 0.04 m3, respectively:

1 m3/ 0.04 m3 = 25 pcs.

In a similar way, you can find out the number of boards in any volume; simply multiply the resulting value (the number of boards in a cube) by the original cubic capacity.

Find out how many square meters are in one board cube

To calculate the area occupied by 1 cube of a board, use the formula:

S = n * L * B

S – area in m2;

n – number of boards in 1 cubic meter;

L – board length (m);

B – board width (m).

Before starting calculations, we convert all dimensions into meters. Now you can find out how much area occupies one cube of our board, 5 m long and 0.3 m wide. We already know that there are 25 of them in 1 cube. All that remains is the simplest calculations using the indicated formula:

25 * 5 m * 0.3 m = 37.5 m2

Thus, one cube of our board will occupy an area of 37.5 m2

How to point a forest

Pointing of round timber is needed to determine the number of logs. This method reduces the time of counting forests of different diameters. Each point in the figure, as well as the lines connecting them, corresponds to one log of a certain diameter. If the trunks are the same diameter, then they simply put a dot or a line on the end. At the same time, drawing a square of dots on a piece of paper, that is, dotting.

Previously, a forester could even put his own mark; now it can be the diameter of the log or a certain color of the marker. Which is what dotting means. One such square of dots and lines connected between them represents ten logs. The size of which is usually 6 meters.

  • Each point is a trunk. They are placed at the corners of an imaginary square.
  • Each line connecting these points is four more trunks.
  • And the two lines forming the diagonals of the square are two more logs.
