The preparation of such material itself was not the easiest thing, not only was it found in the forest, it was also difficult to remove, then the suvel was cut into pieces, but after that it was cooked using a special technology for a couple of weeks, and then dried for a couple of years.
In general, this is a whole epic, and due to the fact that so much has been done just for the blank and based on the size, the price of such material is already becoming very high. And this is not the table itself.
You need to approach the work thoughtfully and make a smooth tabletop with minimal loss in the thickness of the workpiece.
If the cap were of this size, the value would be even higher, but the cap is considered rare and you still need to look for it specifically. And we’re not talking about a small burl, but of such a size that it’s enough for the countertop.

Burl (cap root or as it is popularly called “witch’s broom”) is a round, benign formation on a trunk or branch with a large number of woody nodules. The burl differs from the suveli in that it has many bumps on its outer side, which are created thanks to accessory and dormant buds. These formations look like dark spikes and tubercles, which is why, often on the burl, you can see small shoots and twigs growing directly from it.
It has been noted that on average, for one tree with a burl, there are from three to five thousand trees without such formation.

How to make a small table for coffee from sawn wood?

How to make a table from several end cuts?

Most often in northern latitudes, birch burl is found, less commonly - rowan, pine and spruce. The burl should not be confused with a common parasite - the chaga mushroom, because the burl is essentially a continuation of the tree, and not a foreign formation.
The texture of the burl is varied due to different growth conditions of trees - the amount of light, air humidity, even the location (plain or hillock) affects the pattern. It is precisely because of this unique texture (somewhat similar to the pattern of Karelian birch) with a complex interweaving of annual layers and interspersed dormant buds that burls are in demand by master carvers.
The design of each burl with a chaotic interweaving of fibers and a scattering of black dots is unique - it is impossible to find two identical sections. The carving styles of the masters and their secrets in processing this rebellious material make the figurative works exclusive. Even with all the desire, the master will not be able to cut out similar work one after another - the wood fibers, intertwined differently in different pieces of burl, simply will not allow this to be done.
Suvel is the twin brother of burl with a pronounced stripe-like texture. On trees, suvel is more common than burl. It is almost impossible to distinguish one from the other before processing, but during the production of works, the burl reveals itself as hemispherical tubercles - dormant buds - which are absent in the texture of suvel.
They extract burl (suvel) not by mindlessly felling the forest, but by carefully cutting off the growths that draw the juices out of the tree. The resulting wounds are treated with paraffin, clay, oil paint or lime, so that harmful microorganisms do not enter the tree and it does not die.
